The band and I are very excited to be traveling up to one of my alma maters this Thursday. As you know we come back with many stories from The Cell Block located in Williamsport, PA. Well, they have opened a brand new one at Penn State University. The last time I was up at Penn State, I was taking summer courses to complete my degree out of the 6 colleges I have attended in my life. I exaggerated that a little bit (but not by much!). Now I am excited to be traveling back up to Happy Valley with the band.

I know the students at Penn State University will party it up like they have been doing for years. We are ready to join in the festivities. We look forward to meeting a lot of new people and having a memorable night.

Well we have finally returned from a week of pure insanity in Key West. I woke up this morning body still aching, liver screaming, and my voice half gone. But I am not complaining, it was all worth it! I have met so many amazing people this week from all over the country, and it was a pleasure to party with all of you. We played each night this week like it was our last show on earth, or maybe I should say that we partied like it was our last. We all had nights this week when we probably got a little too crazy, but Key West will do that to you. If you have ever been to Sloppy Joes in Key West then you already know that they have the most amazing people in the world working at their establishment. From bartenders, bouncer, DJ's, sound crew, managers, to servers, everyone employed their just rocks. Have to give a shout out like I promised to some of the staff members, so here goes...Andre, Emily, Tom, Suzanne, Andrea, Leo, Sarge, Vicky, Tammy, Jen, Gina, Dax, Bobby, and the rest of the Sloppy's staff, THANK YOU so much for taking care of us this week!

For all of our friends here in the Philadelphia area, I have missed you and I am looking forward to seeing all of you this week!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our friends that came out on Friday night to catch us at Bootleggers. As most of you know we are out of town quite a bit these days, and it's always nice to know that there are people like you to come home and play to.

I never would have dreamed that I would have made so many friends with so many different types of people just through playing music. You are all unique in your own way and thats what makes all of you beautiful. I am truly grateful for your friendship, and for supporting myself and the rest of the guys in doing what we love to do. Without you we are nothing, this band would cease to exist.

OK...I am all done getting mushy on you for now! I hope you all had a Happy Easter

As promised the new website design is here. We are very happy with the results and have received numerous positive comments regarding our superhero cartoon.

This week is busy for us. On Thursday we are playing a Band Showcase at The Whiskey Tango in Northeast Philadelphia. There will be a lot of great bands and should be a great time. Friday night, we are playing close to home at Bootleggers in Woodlyn. It has been a while since we have been there and look forward to seeing all of the staff and our friends. Saturday night we will be traveling through central Pennsylvania to play The Cell Block in Williamsport. We get up there about once a month and there is never a dull moment in this converted prison. Herein lies the problem…we have to leave early on Sunday to celebrate Easter with our families. We like to party hard up there, but may have to take it easy this time. Will it happen? We will let you know next week.

Everyone enjoy the holiday weekend, and if possible, please come check in with us at one of the shows. Till then…

We must apologize for not posting any recent journal entries, but we have been occupied putting final touches on a new website design as well as turning a lot of our attention to MYSPACE.

As for upcoming shows…

This Friday night is important to have as many friends there with us as possible. We will be performing the opening set at the Whiskey Tango in Northeast Philadelphia starting around 10pm. Please come out to support us in this new room and hang out for a few drinks afterwards. On Saturday, be sure to drop by and see us at Bourbon Blue in Manayunk.

Wow! What a night at Bootleggers last night. The crowd was awesome. We met a lot of new people that we hope to keep in touch with. Thanks to everyone for a great night.

And for all you myspace junkies...please add 52 Pickup to your friends list. You can click on the link from our homepage. You will also find Eric and my Myspace accounts off of the 52 Pickup friend list. It is an easy way to keep in touch and another way to find out about upcoming shows.

Hope to see you all real soon.

As many of you know my last show with the band was New Years Eve and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. It is really hard to sum up the past two years… I have met thousands of people, played hundreds of shows and made so many  unforgettable memories. None of those things would have been possible without the four amazing guys that I shared this time with. Eric, TJ, Brian and Coop – you are my brothers, partners in crime and four of the greatest guys I ever met. Thank you for everything – your friendship, your talents, and all of the laughs. I will truly miss sharing the stage with you. There are a few others that I would also like to thank. To Steph, our photographer and #1 fan, thank you for always being there to offer support and kind words. Coop is a lucky guy. To the “Tuesday Night Crew” (you know who you are) thank you so much for always making the shows fun, and being a familiar face in the crowd. Please continue to come out and see Eric and me at our acoustic shows when you can. Your support is appreciated more than you will ever know. To all our fans, thank you for making five guys who just love to play music and have a good time so successful. You are the best. Finally and most importantly to Alex, Lisa, and my family, thank you for being so supportive, even though at times it meant sacrificing time with you to play my music. I love you so much and look forward to making up for that lost time in the upcoming New Year.

Best of luck and happiness 52 Pick Up and its fans.

Take care everyone and… Suck it…

Jack

First I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We had an absolute blast at our New Years Eve show at the Manayunk Brewing Co. If you were there you know what I'm talking about, and if you were not then you definitely missed one of the most important shows in 52 Pickup history. It was an emotional night for myself and for everyone else in the band.

As many of you are aware New Years Eve marked our last show with Jack Strong on guitar. I have shared the stage in this band with many people over the years, but I have never shared it with anyone quite like Jack. He is absolutely insane in the same messed up ways that I am. (if you guys only knew...well I guess a lot of you do), we also share very similar lives. He is by far the most entertaining guitar player I have ever seen in his own unique way. People are just simply drawn to him.

Before he joined 52 Pickup he and I were playing acoustic shows together and became the best of friends practically over night. I never thought we would wind up playing in the same band together, but three months later his band broke up and there was a job opening in 52 Pickup. I offered it to Jack and he accepted. If you have been out to a show, you all know what happened from there, and if you haven't you definitely missed something special. Jack if your reading this I love you and so does the rest of 52. We are all still family in my book.

As many of you know the man that will be filling Jack's shoes is Todd Oakes. We auditioned so many talented guitar players until someone walked though the door and something finally felt right. We offered Todd the job after taking him on the road with us to see how well he would deal with the antics of 52 Pickup. He passed with flying colors. Tommorrow Jan.4th a new chapter of 52 Pickup will begin. Please try to make it out to the show. He is very excited to meet all of you. You will not be disappointed.

On another note Jack and I will still be doing original shows and acoustic shows. We will be starting the pre production for our album next month. So in away Jack is gone, but not really. You will still be able to catch he and I every Tuesday 9:30-1:00 and Friday happy hour for our acoustic shows at JD McGillicuddy's.

Until Next Time,

Eric 52
